The big takeaway from Part II is: the women on this panel are here to help.

Any successful person stands on the shoulders of those who came before--this rings doubly true for women who have found success in the male-dominated finance field. All of our trailblazing panelists want you to know: they’re happy to be a pair of shoulders for the next generation.

Here’s some of their best advice, edited for length and clarity:

Don’t feel like you need to follow stereotype--there are different paths to success. The experience of women in finance is not monolithic. - Michelle Noon

Cut yourself some slack! Don’t be in such a rush on your career journey--it’s okay to make a lateral move in order to get closer to your passion or pursue an industry that interests you more. - Gretchen Perkins

Don’t let yourself feel ashamed about failures or shortcomings. Confidence is key, and there’s no reason any of these things should cut that down. We’re all human! - Alexandra Lebenthal

There’s great momentum in the industry for women, but we’re still wildly underrepresented. If, this year, everyone pledged to do one thing that made a difference for this cause, we’d see change more rapidly. - Ivelisse Rodriguez-Simon

At any stage of your career, absorb as many skills as you can and be sure to ask a plethora of questions. - Amy Weisman

Sometimes you don’t understand the impact you have on others, so always be true to yourself--you could just be the perfect antidote to something a friend, colleague, or neighbor is going through. - Melanie Brensinger

Play to your strengths--but that doesn’t mean don’t push yourself! Whatever you do, just make sure to keep your eyes on the prize. Your chances of hitting the target increases exponentially the moment you begin to aim. - Caroline Young
